Description
“Shooting Stars of Samarkand” is one of the stories from therapeutic series written specifically for children (age 12+). The series might also awe and entertain elder scholars, sceptics, and general scalawags. It is a dense and multi-layered mix of history, fiction, folklore, myths, and traditions of different countries. Chock full of keen observations, unique interpretations, and loads of all-world cultural and historical references.
It relays the adventures of adolescent boy Senya — an elevensomething who lives with his grandfather Radey in a small village in Russia. Radey is a fantastic storyteller and as a decent one he is a bit of a magician as well. He makes potions in his big pot to create letters, pictures and plots which come together and magically lay onto paper in a book.
One day Senya while chasing a cat fell into the pot and found himself in a new wonderful world full of adventures, as well as the various trials of the colourful characters. He tries to find a way to get back home, but in the end finds himself in a new place, and we find him in a new story. However, on his way he learns a lot about the world, himself and people. He faces challenges, battles with magical creatures, and solves problems acting brave and savvy.
In this story, Senya travels to the beautiful city of Samarkand in search of new knowledge and experiences. There he meets the brilliant astronomer and ruler Ulugh Beg, who dreams of bringing stars closer to humanity. With the help of the goddess Muse Urania, they discover a way to make this dream come true.
But it won’t be easy – they must face challenges and overcome obstacles, all while learning about the history, culture, and legends of the region. This book is a perfect mix of history, magic, and adventure that will transport you to a different time and place.
“The Boiling Cauldron of Grandfather Radey” series is a collection of stories that not only entertain but also educate and inspire. They are a treasure trove of wisdom and wonder that will ignite the imagination and enrich the soul. Don’t miss out on “Shooting stars of Samarkand” – a journey you will never forget!
